Medicaid
Medicad is the program that pays for medical assistance for certain families and individuals with low income and resources.  The program became law in 1965 and is jointly funded by the federal and state goverments (including the District of Columbia and the Territories) to assist the states in providing long-term medical care assistance for people who meet certain eligibility criteria.
